![]() ![]() Actizyme is the next generation of skin care -- a safe yet effective exfoliating enzyme designed to enhance or replace alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) therapy. This unique (patent pending) product consists of a highly purified acid protease in a stabilizing solution. This enzyme acts to exfoliate cells and stimulate cell renewal for a limited period of time, then is neutralized by the skin's natural pH. When the enzyme is neutralized (denatured), its irritation potential is also diminished. Actizyme breaks the chemical bonds in the desmosome, which holds the dead skin cells together in the horny layer of the stratum corneum. This results in the sloughing off of those cells (exfoliation), thereby stimulating new cell growth. The action produces smooth, fresh looking skin, with lower potential irritation than therapeutic concentrations of AHA's. Actizyme E3M does not have the irritation issues of papain or other enzymes. Actizyme E3M contains an acid protease with an activity range from pH 3.0 to about 4.5. At the natural surface pH of human skin (4.5 to 6.0) the acid protease of ActizymeTM is totally inactive, and non-irritating. |
